The female reproductive system
Female sex cell called ova are produced by two ovaries.
Human ovaries
are 3 cm long and attached to the back wall of the abdomen above the kidneys.Ova
begins forming in the ovaries before birth.
Puberty occurs in girls between eight and fifteen years of age,and by this
time each ovum is encased in a mass of cells called a follicle.A ring of
muscle called the cervix closes the
lower end of
the uterus where it joins another tube, the vagina.
The vagina
extends to the outside of the body where there is an opening called the
vulva.
